This event is no longer on sale.

Monday June 18

6:00 PM  –  8:00 PM

Join us for an evening highlighting this important document and the shared history of two historic sites—one from the old world and one from the new. Experience this important piece of our nation’s history on the anniversary of its writing. Rarely displayed due to its fragility, the letter is one of the most significant objects associated with our first President. Learn how the Peter family treasured this important letter and other significant objects now found in the Tudor Place collection from Curator Grant Quertermous. Then hear about Washington Old Hall. A 17th century manor house in North East England which is the ancestral home of George Washington. The hall is managed by the National Trust, Europe’s biggest conservation charity. Kate Devlin, House Steward, will share a condensed history of the hall and the legacy of the Washington’s most famous decedent.

**This lecture will take place in the Conservatory of the historic mansion at Tudor Place. Please enter the front gate and proceed to the Visitor Center on the night of the event.
