On view for 2026 as part of the America 250 at Tudor Place programs, Founding Fortunes: The Estate Sale of Martha Washington

On view beginning February 11, discover the story behind an estate sale of historic proportions in a special exhibition experience, Founding Fortunes: The Estate Sale of Martha Washington. Displaying several artifacts together for the first time, the guided tour of exhibition explores what George and Martha Washington’s worldly belongings, and the people who desired them, reveal about the values and divisions of early American society. Beyond the exhibition, the tour will take visitors through other rooms of the first floor, discussing the legacy of the Washington connection.

*Note, currently the exhibition is self-guided. Starting May 19th, the house will be by guided tour only.
